I made this for a coworker and friend, who drank a lot of iced coffees from Starbucks, and it was the first time I ever knitted with multiple colors. I thought something small like this would be a great way to practice before starting larger pieces.
The How
I didn’t use a pattern for this – this was easy enough to improvise. First, I figured out the layout of the letters in a spreadsheet. Then I started with 30 stitches in the round, knitted about half an inch of ribbing, and an inch of stockinette. I followed my spreadsheet pattern for the letters, alternating the base color with the color of the letters. The inch or so of stockinette above the letters featured a few increases to allow it to better fit the plastic drink cups, and I finished off with another half inch of ribbing.
