Earth Day Play Date Invite (Printable)

It’s that time of the year again! When the weather is getting warmer and it’s time to celebrate the planet that gives us life, it’s also a great time to get the kids together for some play time.

A few years ago, I came across some dirt and plant themed food like mud cake with jello worms and chocolate cupcakes with green grass frosting, and I thought it would be great to make for J. But it seemed like it would be too much for just him, so I thought it would be a cool idea to invite some of his friends on a play date. A themed play date. An Earth Day play date.

Ideas starting forming for the foods to serve, maybe do some experiments, and of course I had to make a themed invite. I found some ideas, but no one had a printable that I loved, so I decided to recreate my own and I would love to share it!

Do you need ideas for what to do on an earth date play date? How about these plant cupcakes? I made them easier by just doing grass frosting on top instead of intricate leaves, but you can tailor it to your preference. I also tried to make my own dirt and wiggly worms with jello, but they didn’t turn out well, so this idea with gummy worms seems a lot easier. Here are some more ideas for snacks and crafts. It’s a great time to let the kids play outside in the grass, teach them about the Earth and how to take care of it or just the importance of finding balance between humans and the planet.

You can also use the day to let them help start planting the garden, if your climate is warm enough! We have to wait a little longer for that. But the kids always love to help in the garden, and it’s a great opportunity to teach them about sustainability and fresh produce. There are jobs for every age in the garden!

Hope your Earth Day play date is filled with fun and wonder!
