I wanted a really quick project with bulky yarn and have been eyeing an idea I found that incorporated cables in the front and looked like it would be great over a collared shirt for work. It took a little while to find the right yarn, but I finally found this sparkly blue one that seemed perfect.
I had to reverse engineer it at the sleeves because it wasn’t super clear from the pictures, but it seemed like I got it right.
It has a few rows of garter stitch at the bottom, then stockinette for the body with a 3-3-3 (9 stitches total) cabled braid on each side.
At the sleeves, I cast on additional stitches on each side and worked each side and the back separately, then joined at the top. I specifically joined the top while binding off both pieces with a crochet slip stitch so that it would have this ridge for a bit of uniqueness.
I love how the shoulders drop with the horizontal sleeves, but the cardigan ended up being too warm with the button-down shirts at work. I did get a lot of compliments on it though, and I love the color and style, so I just wear it outside of work with a lighter shirt underneath.
